I know you want to exclude jrpgs as a separate and distinct genre but ff Xi and ff xiv clearly fit your profile of a true rpg and they hold more weight than baldurs gate 3. It seems more like an exclusionary decision not to make them the center focus in your conclusionary chapter. It seems to me that modern rpgs are going the way of mmo's over digital tabletops and that general era is simply that; an era in the ever continuum of the evolution of the rpg genre. PS: I'd also say that minecraft should be a major notable leap in the genre as it includes all of the major aspects of rpgs (by your definition) and is one of the most influential and popular games of current times.

I mostnly diasgree with your takes outside part of the open world thing(I just despise open world games but still love them either way kinda its weird) but I first want to say that I dont want to hate on you because all in all its your opinion and it isnt outrages or based on nothing! But, sadly there is a ''but'', there are some things I want to comment on. 1. I think besides the open world not being perfect it still is one of the better ones out there and the bad things get cancelled out by the legacy dungeons areas the game has which are insanely good and better then 95% of the levels from the other fromsoft games. Also the criticism of ''the bosses repete too much and there are too many'' is overblown and roots in the mindset of cpmparing two deepls different type of games. To say there are only 9 unique bosses is also misleading since there are many bosses you left out that may show up in another form but are nothing like their ''big fight'' counterpart. 2. I must say the first part of the second section confused me the most. The difficulty really isnt that different to the other games if you do it in a mostly normal way, which you should do for a normal playthrough. I think its fair to say you did it ''wrong'' which isnt a problem itself but it doesnt allow room for a nuanced critique of the difficulty. I cant get behind the decision to head straight to Margit while starring a the massive area that Limgrave is, doing Margit and Stormveil first instead and then go back just to complain the area is too easy. Idk if Im missing something but I think you made the mistake there and not the game since it should be quite clear that you do the ''level'' before the ''endboss''. Just like any of the DS bosses would kick your ass if you went there heavily underleveld instead of doing the level first. Progression after that is fine and while going go Mt Gelmir after Liurnia is confusing too since I would say heading to Calid next is quite the clear path(and even the grace leads there I think). Fucking up at the start this heavily really led to a spiral like experience with your difficulty I think. 3. The meta part is difficult to argue about. I get that some dislike the concept of a game having a strong meta or such but I dont think its that bad myself since the game is still really doable with close to any weapon in the game for the normal player. But this is purely subjective so it is what it is. The Elon Musk point is still weird since he was made fun of since a) hes Elon fucking Musk lol and b) the build made close to zero sense and not because it was off meta. I would even say someone busting out a cool unsual off meta build is viewed more positive then negative. Love your other stuff tho and I will continue watching so keep up the good work even if people dont always agree!

Tbh i wanted to like outer worlds and admittedly i did like it due before to bethesda making not so good games and had the stat points though its execution needed work. But after a while and thinking about it the game is disappointing and not that good. The dlc was also disappointing the murder mystery invalidate choices and deducing who the culprit was. Really did suffered the same as other studios dumbing down rpg gameplay and it did bring back choices and choosing stat boosting but its execution was very superficial. Thank you for making this video I think the game should br looked at critically as people seem to forgive smaller studios too quickly sometimes. Overall I hope outer worlds 2 improves a lot and it could be good i am still hoping at least

I often don't understand what the average gamer like or doesn't like in a game, but never been more true than for BG3. It's a bad game period. A story/character/dialogue focused game with absolutely terrible story/characters/dialogue. No redeeming qualities. Imo it's a 4 or 5 out of 10. The gaming industry is stuck in a rut because their target audience are idiots, which makes it impossible to expend their audience because there's a limited pool of idiots in the world.

I played this series since Dark Souls 1, and I admit Elden Ring surpasses all the previous games in terms of proper MAGIC and ARCHERY, and strategic fighting of Weapon Arts. It finally gave us CASTORS proper play-ability that was missing in DS1, due to imbalance mechanics---(made bosses too easy and almost useless in PVP). It improved in DS2 but not as satisfying till DS3. Now in Elden Ring it took the strong parts of DS3 and made an entire new dimension of spells for us Mages. Counter Spells, slow and fast spells, divergent spells, etc.. Although I can see your points. DS1 is absolutely classic in atmosphere and subtle story telling, but Elden Ring's story isn't a joke either. It didn't try to make you feel invested in wanting to be Lord because that is the point. Which Age do we resonate with? Its the same question we asked ourselves why we (spoilers) followed the prophecy in DS1 given by a complete stranger without question(or answers), going around lighting bonfires only to find out it wasn't to save a dying world like we were told but a massive ritual to save our own slavers and their ilk. In Elden, we're not just in between random places, but different dimensions layering on top of ours---and of course the eras and dogmas that bleed-through to get us to move towards a certain path for "their" benefit. As for Meta, this one's hard to say. Numerous builds can be overpowering, broken that in the future gaming it won't be a problem anymore. Enough people will find it lame, show-offs for clicks that people will care less about being overpowered and more towards being creative, since numerous builds in Elden can become broken.

My only point of criticism is that Gale doesn't show up as mad antagonist that's hunting you in Act 3 wenn you take his hand in act 1 ^^

Emil knows how I play games lol fer sure i dont play the story I skirmish or free lance so much i never finish titles but have hours and hours in just about every title I own. He gets how I play lol yup

My personal experience goes like this; A) didn't play Gothic since it always crashed or had many bugs despite the patches. So i checked the story here. B) Gothic 2 is difficult but a nice game. I couldn't though play it for hours due to it's old graphics. C) Just installed Gothic 3 enhanced edition. Seems ok till now 🤠 Nice video though 💪

Once a vocal core hates on a title it becomes incredible to see a game as the effort it was supposed to be. MoW 2 for example is perfect extension to the title the price seems fair as well but wow seems easier to tee up hate for other reasons than what is off about the title.

I think the first chapter of this video is the SINGLE one I have ever seen that actually summarizes the original GamerGate events truthfully and impartially. Every time time I hear about GamerGate anywhere else, it's either "GamerGate was a harrasment campaign and NEVER about ethics" or "They want to DESTROY our video games to cater to the LGBT audience". Coming back to this video after some time and playing the dlc, I have really come to find a major appreciation with Elden ring and how wrong this video is. Complaining about non issues for an hour and a half is crazy, just to get some views through contrarian arguments.

Strachey's Draughts made and played the summer of 1952 is a fairly well documented and clear cut example of the earliest thing you could call a video game, but no one did at the time.
